The Wassily chair by Marcel Breuer is an impressive piece of furniture created during his work in the carpentry workshop at the Bauhaus Weimar. Breuer designed the revolutionary Wassilly chair with a new technology that made it possible to bend steel without breaking it.

Thus, the Wassily chair was modeled after a tubular bicycle handlebar, which can be well recognized by the complex construction. Breuer's striking designs impressed artists like Kandinsky, who used the chair for his own decor. The elegant design has a light but well thought-out upholstery that gives the body maximum support.

Cuberious produces the ornate Wassily chair with a chromed steel frame and a light upholstery in high quality classic leather or premium leather in a choice of colors.

Marcel Breuer (1902-1981)

Marcel Lajos („Lajkó “) Breuer (* May 21st, 1902 in Fünfkirchen, Austro-Hungary; † July 1st, 1981 in New York) was a German-American architect and designer of Hungarian-Jewish origin.

After carpenter apprenticeship at Bauhaus Weimar Breuer worked in the office of Walter Gropius for several years, but then became independent. In 1933 he emigrated from the Third Reich due to his Jewish origin and moved via Hungary and London into the USA.

There he established, among other things, the Architecture Faculty of the Harvard University in cooperation with Gropius.
